Romania’s National Housing Agency (ANL) will start building a total 861 housing units, which will be rented out to young people aged up to 35 who cannot afford to buy an apartment or rent a privately-owned housing unit at current market prices.

The housing units will be built in counties Arad, Bacau, Covasna, Hunedoara, Mures, Neamt, Suceava, Teleorman and Vrancea on the lands put at the disposal of the agency by the local county councils.

Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu made public the decision to start construction works at the end of the government meeting Wednesday, adding local authorities should focus on this program much more.
