Citadel Rasnov


Sibiu on the other hand was like Prague without the tourists. Also, Rasnov makes a good addition to Bran for a full day trip. You get a nice short hike up to a fortified citadel and the views are excellent. The Citadel in Râşnov is special because it was built by peasants on a hill next to the village. Sibiu on the other hand was like Prague without the tourists. It had houses for every family, as well as a church and a school. Its a short hike to an old Citadel, but its got some amazing views and a cool little museum, very easy to do them both in one day. You get a nice short hike up to a fortified citadel and the views are excellent. This way, the peasants could live there for a long time in case of a war. If you do go that route, be sure to visit Rasnov on the way to Bran. Open: Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Other castles and fortresses worth visiting include: Vlad Tepes’ Poenari Fortress near Aref Ruginoasa Palace in Ruginoasa Suceava Citadel Neamt Citadel Princely Court in Targoviste. Rasnov Citadel is the largest peasant citadel ever built in Southern Europe, its ruins standing on top of a hill near Transylvania. Citadel Rasnov. ET/PT on Discovery Channel. Plovdiv was worthwhile. From Cartisoara it is about an hour’s drive to Bran, via the dull town of Fagaras, home to a rather rundown but once fine old citadel, and then along the picturesque Sinca Valley.
